Mail Voiders (under arm protection) came into wide fashion sometime in the 15th Century but are not completely out of place in the late 14th Century. Voiders are sewn to an under garment (not supplied) and protect the arms where there are gaps in the plate armour.
These mail voiders are crafted in high tensile steel, and though butted construction has less structural integrity than riveted mail this steel type will provide a sturdier mail garment than mild steel.
